It has been a long time hasn't it?

It's been a long time
Now I'm coming back home
- The Beatles

And it's good to be back! Of course due to the holidays I had to come back with shiny new gifts for everyone, so let's start with gift number one, which i must confess is the smaller of the two but seems like a good starting point all the same.

The winter ad campaign is finished! Or at least the photography for it is; film is being developed, jeans are being destroyed, and pictures are being posted. More to come, happy holidays!

So seeing as it's only a few days after Thanksgiving, you know I've already started my Christmas shopping

First I found a lovely card that will show up whatever artsy-beautiful one my dad picks for his gifts and then...
look what I found!

For anyone who still has a crazy passion for stuffed animals (much like myself) you can find these little guys at monsterfactory.net.

Each one has its own personality and eyes that say "please take me home." But in all seriousness the collectable stuffies are favored by people such as Kanye West, other less well-known celebrities, etc, you get the idea. They were also featured in Rolling Stone's 2010 Holiday Gift Guide.

Go on the website to learn about each monster's personality (par example: "Magnus enjoys country music and gets sentimental during the holiday season") and then check out the minis of each monster when you figure out the astronomical price tag on most of the larger ones.

Happy holidays!

Our winter spirit had to come early because otherwise we would have run out of time

So I managed to scrounge up a few images last night, and I thought I'd let you guys take a peak before the big debut (which will hopefully be in early December). Thank you to everyone who helped out and keep your fingers crossed for more!

The appearance of Mr. Rager

Actually it's "The Legend of-" but whatever. Kid Cudi's sophomore album, The Legend of Mr. Rager, dropped today.

Photographers to watch

Her name is Angelica Ström. She is 19 and resides in Gävle Sweden.
I simply cannot get enough of her soft touch with the camera and the simplistic style to all her photos.

Like her on facebook, check out her portfolio, or follow her on flickr.

It's Halloween!

So in the spirit of the holiday, transform yourself into your favorite beast (not that we need Halloween to do that) by putting on a Spirit Hood and tapping into your inner animal.

Spirit Hoods supports both the conservation and protection of the planet and its animals, and is partnered with a series of non-profit organizations that are dedicated entirely to wildlife conservation known as Product Blue.

Visit the Spirit Hoods website here or check out their blog.

Someone ought to remember the starving artists of the world...

...and make cheaper clothing.

Still, though, I can't help but admire the pricier items that are out there. For instance, these cloaks by Lindsey Thornburg, which I swear make my heart melt every time I see them.

Kate Moss for Topshop

Kate Moss's new line for Topshop launches Tuesday, November 2nd. But in the mean time to keep us occupied Topshop has released a lovely promo video which you can view here.

You can see our ad campaign from here!

FINALLY I have managed to get the photos from that shoot with the jeans and the glitter (ever so long ago) onto the blog and they're even really really easy to look at.

To check it out all you have to do is go to the page titled ONLINE CAMPAIGN and click the link (I got fancy and imbedded it in 'here,' nice, right?) and it will bring you to my shiny, new portfolio page which I have devoted entirely to Dirty Jeans ad campaigns, images, etc.

Enjoy!

We should pow-wow sometime soon

This afternoon as I sat in my room adorned with cheetah-print leggings and heavily-fringed moccasins, amongst a number of animal masks and faux fur, reveling in the energy-charged sounds of Kings of Leon's new album and envisioning the vast number of music festivals I plan on attending before I die (because this is what girls like me do in their spare time) an article in Elle peaked my interest.

The article was titled "Head Trip" and focused on a new designer, Chase Cohl, the now 22-yr-old daughter of the Rolling Stones' longtime manager. Well we all know a girl like that is destined to do something great, yeah? And in fact, she has not let us down. Cohl is rapidly gaining popularity over her new line of jewelry and headresses, which are heavily based in feathers, crystals, and hippie-style embroidery. (So you know this article is now hanging over my bed, haha.)

Perhaps it's a bit much (ha, how silly) but check out the website for a good time, aka http://www.littledoeislove.com/.

Come Around Sundown

Kings of Leon's new album, Come Around Sundown, was released today. Think gritty, classic, southern rock mixed with U2-sounding guitar riffs and you'll get the idea. At least I know I'll have something that sounds like summer to last me through the winter...

Tweet, tweet!

Dirty Jeans now has an official twitter account entirely its own! Be sure to check it out and follow us there for updates on what's going on.

Cannibalism soon-to-be socially accepted

On October 13, Ke$ha announced the release of her new album, Cannibal. Its scheduled release is November 22, not even a year after her debut album's release. You can listen to her first pre-released single, We R Who We R here.

As a well-known Ke$ha fan, you can probably imagine I'm somewhat excited.

Lennon Legend

Today marks what would be John Lennon's 70th birthday. To celebrate there are of course a number of events and premieres in his honor (go to the google title page and press play if you don't believe me). But if you can't make it to those, instead you can watch the movie 'Nowhere Boy,' starring Aaron Johnson, which covers Lennon's adolescent life. Either way, take today to appreciate the man that left such an amazing imprint on our culture.

Updates!

So once again the photoshoot for our online campaign was postponed. But no worries, when we finally do have the shoot it will get a pretty new page all to itself. (see above; cool, huh?)

Soon you'll also be able to see examples of our fabulous (if I do say so myself) makeup artistry too! So if anyone has any special events coming up...homecoming perhaps?

And finally I also thought to add a calendar page so you guys can check in if there's ever any dispute about when things are happening, check it now to find out the tentative date of our next shoot and be sure to comment if you can come! Hope you like the new additions!

Photoshoot this weekend? I can feel it coming...

To get you guys psyched up for our upcoming shoot I thought I'd give you a sneak preview and show you some of the things that inspired it.

So who's excited?

Animal Ears

Hey guys! If you hadn't already noticed (yeah right) I got a spiffy new layout for the blog. I'm thinking about adding to it so there isn't quite so much blank space but let me know what you think!

Maybe history will repeat itself...again

I thought I'd just put up a positive little post for everyone. It's one of those things that made me feel like I just grew a couple inches when I remembered it. Basically how a couple different brands got their starts. For example...

Stacey Bendet (right) of the brand Alice + Olivia

became well known after she was recognized for a pair of PANTS she'd designed herself

and Juicy Couture started was a maternity JEANS brand

bet you didn't see that one coming.

(They're also best friends. Just saying.)

Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is the impossible is sometimes possible...and I'm feeling positive today.

New photos coming soon!

New ideas that make us want people to want us

So as I began to drown in homework, cleaning my room, fashion's night out, and figuring out how to keep up with my new school email account (I didn't) I also managed to fail at organizing a photo shoot for fliers to spread the word about Dirty Jeans...

Luckily, there were some unused photos from our catalog shoot I'd almost forgotten but then quickly remembered how much I loved! (So convenient...)

Anyway, I'm hoping you all love it and might (for the people who don't go to school with me) be willing to hand some out to your friends...eh, eh? Any requests for copies can be made either in comments or if you email us at dirtyjeansinfo@gmail.com!

The biggest block party of the year

And Dirty Jeans is going! Fashion's Night Out is this Friday, exactly 4 days, 10 hours, 14 minutes, and 39 seconds away (as of now, according to their counter).

All over the world, this Friday night cities will be keeping their stores open late and anyone who's anyone in the world of fashion will come out to play, celebrating everything fashion means to those who indulge in it.

If you're interested, check out the website: http://www.fashionsnightout.com/ to get a list of all the events going on. Or if you can't make it, still visit their website to find out where you can purchase the latest FNO merchandise.

Let's have an update, shall we?

So this weekend's extra long and I thought I'd just let everybody know what was going on, as I've been taking forever to wrap stuff up. Just a couple things I'd like to say:

1. Since this weekend is so long (3 whole days, dude!) I'm sure I'll be able to finish up the catalog and get a few hard copies around to some of my favorite people...we'll also be producing digital copies of it though for anyone else who's interested.

2. I (Izzi) am playing with the idea of offering makeup services for special events and whatnot. Just a freelance thing to do on the side for whenever people don't want to do it themselves. Thoughts? (Comment!)

On the road again

Hey everyone, just letting you know I'm off to Oregon for the rest of the week so I'll probably be out of touch, but when I come back I've got great ideas for another shoot and promise I'll finish up the catalog soon.

See you then!

We've expanded!

Hey everyone! Just a quick message to check in and make sure everybody's still paying attention, also to let you know that we've now expanded to two blogs! So while there will always be this one to give you all the updates on our jeans, fashion trends, etc, anything to do with the clothes, we've also established a more social blog.

If you're interested check out www.dirtybabble.blogspot.com and follow it, because that's the most important thing. Also be sure to comment so we know you're out there!

Hope you enjoy the new addition!

The pictures are in!

On Saturday we shot the pictures for the fall catalog and after several rice crispy treats and one accidental exposure of a role of film (sorry!) we managed to get them finished!

Our lovely team (Xochil, Caroline, and Pat) showing their hottest poses...

...and flashing cars as they pass by?

Thank you so much to everybody who helped out, it was a blast!

We should try and rescue these:

I'm serious. They are probably the coolest things any leader has ever worn throughout history. And we should totally bring them back. Maybe a less extreme version, but feathers are popular now and I'd like to see someone, anyone walk down the street with one of these. Because Native Americans were the coolest nation of people ever... until we came and wiped them out.

But anyways, the movie Eat, Pray, Love just came out and you should definitely go see it because Julia Roberts looks freaking cute in the India chapter of it. Pretty saris. :)
Or read the book and imagine the saris for yourself.

Welcome to the world of blogging...

Hi everybody! Just wanted to make sure the blog was working and posts were getting up, there isn't really anything too important to mention yet. Everything is basically a work in progress right now, which is why Abbey and I decided to set up a blog to keep you posted on what we were up to.

If you're on the blog then you probably heard about it from one of us or someone we told to tell you, or if you're reading this later on you might have looked it up from our catalog...if that ever gets finished...Anyway I just wanted to sum up what this blog's going to be about and what Dirty Jeans is going to be. Basically Dirty Jeans allows you to do whatever you want to your jeans without doing it yourself. Any kind of bleaching, distressing, customizing we can think of we'll find a way to make happen. Hopefully we'll manage to renew that old pair of jeans you'd forgotten about. Every pair of jeans we distress is the only one of its kind, and is rendered exactly the way you want at a fraction of the cost of a regular pair of jeans you would buy in a store. After we customize them, we'll mark them with our signature and send them back to you, simple.

But that's going to take a while to set up, so until then, we'd like to keep you informed on what we're up to so once you hear about us maybe we'll stick in your memory a little longer. Abbey and I will put up posts of things that inspire us, new ideas we have, designers we admire, and what we plan to get done so you'll know exactly what's going on.
Wish us luck!
